They formed Wayport, the leading supplier of Ethernet connections in hotel rooms, and the leading supplier of for-fee 802.11 "hotspot" wireless access to the public. Every month, hundreds of thousands of times, some weary businessman gets to sleep a little sooner, some hotel operates a little more smoothly, and some traveler makes good use of the increasing time spent in airport lounges.
Acumera was formed with a deep commitment to using the technology of the Internet to bring the same benefits currently enjoyed by hotels and large merchants with sophisticated IT staff to a broad base of merchants: modern networks, enhanced operations, better supply chain visibility, enhanced customer services, and reduced costs.

At Wayport, Dirk led the deployment and management of Wayport's wired and wireless Internet access service for business travelers to over 120,000 hotel guest and meeting rooms in North America and Europe as well as numerous airports. At Multimedia Games, Dirk was responsible for manufacturing, integration, network operations and field service for high-availability systems for lottery and casino markets. He managed networks at over 100 sites consisting of over 20,000 managed network objects.
Brett Stewart, Chief Technology Officer
Founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Wayport, former Director of Business
Development for AMD.
Brett founded and led Wayport to its status as the largest supplier of wired and wireless Internet access for business travelers. At AMD, Brett was responsible for business development and IP licensing in the network, WiFi and DSL semiconductor markets. Brett has been awarded over 40 patents relating to WiFi and network innovation.
