Acumera's service, delivered and installed as a turnkey solution, involves: bringing broadband services to the merchant premises (or using existing broadband, if available), inserting a small box between the phone network, the broadband network, and the transaction terminal or POS system at the merchant premises; intercepting transaction phone calls locally, then securely sending the transaction over the broadband network instead of the phone network.

The Merchant Gateway The foundation of Acumera's network management system starts with the Merchant Gateway. This single, simple, ruggedized device typically replaces 3 or 4 standard network devices. It provides a built-in DSL modem, connects to serial devices like automatic tank gauges as well as the the store LAN, it supports dial- and serial-to-IP with out-of-band diagnostics, and it can establish multiple VPN connections.
